Bryce Canyon’s Inspiration

Even though nowadays, most of my inspiration comes from in and around Sedona. I decided to travel to Bryce Canyon in southern Utah. I’ve heard good things about Bryce and decided to see for myself what the fuss was all about. So, I took a road trip, traveling for just five and a half hrs. And that was when I discovered that Bryce Canyon rivaled Sedona in the red rock formations.

Surrounded by Magnificence

Bryce Canyons’ amphitheater is where we hiked when we first arrived. We arrived at an overlook called what else called “Inspiration Point.” The viewpoint at Inspiration Point consists of three levels that provide varied, spectacular perspectives of the main amphitheater, where I photographed this reference that I used to create this modern abstract landscape wall art. And, of course, later to be made into canvas prints.

Hoodoos

Bryce is famous for its unique worldly geology, consisting of a series of horseshoe-shaped amphitheaters. Its bizarre shapes include slot canyons, windows, fins, and spires called “hoodoos.”  These whimsically arranged rocks create a wondrous landscape of mazes, offering some of the most exciting and memorable walks and hikes imaginable.

Rim Trail

While no trails lead down into the canyon from the cliffs of Inspiration Point, the Rim Trail extends south from Fairyland to Bryce Point and north through the area known as the amphitheater to Sunset Point. The total length is 5.5 miles with an elevation gain of 1,754 feet. It took me a little over 4.5 hours. I, for one, was ready for a nap after that climb! Coincidently, Sedona Art Studios was born on Rim Trail Drive in Sedona.
