I was inspired to name this Sedona landscape “Lovers View” from an earlier Vortex Lovers painting. This Sedona landscape is the lover’s viewpoint, with their shadow revealed in the sunshine below.
Urban Legend
The Urban legend of Sedona’s Cathedral Rocks center spires is known as “The Lovers.” As the legend goes, the couple argued continually. Then, the Great Spirit asked the lovers to stop and turn around, suggesting they acknowledge and discover their blessings and Sedona’s magic. Hence the name “Lovers View.”

Laura’s Narrative
Every evening I like to get out for a sunset hike to clear my head, let go of the day, and reconnect with myself. This evening, I went out to one of my favorite secluded spots on Cathedral Rock, just behind the “lovers.”
Incredible Shadow of Cathedral
I took off my shoes, laid down, closed my eyes, and quieted my mind. Then, after a while, I sat up and looked over to my left and saw the most incredible shadow of Cathedral Rock being cast on the earth below.
Magic Hour
As the sun was starting to lower in the sky and light up the rocks and the clouds – “magic hour, a.k.a Golden hour,” as I call it! I remember the sound of the birds dancing and singing in the sky above me and the incredible view that I was given as I sat in complete awe and gratitude for the life I had been given.
