Pure Joy
Pure joy is, doing what you love to do, listening to the solo piano music of Joe Bongiorno, and connecting to your heartfelt spirit deeply and emotionally!
Special Moment
This particular moment is a hiker in Sedona connecting to and experiencing the magic of the view from one of the saddle points of Sedona’s Cathedral Rock. The enormity of this special place is true to size. Therefore, I did not paint the woman smaller to make it look bigger than it is.
Significant Spires
The saddle points are gaps between the significant spires on Cathedral Rock, the single most photographed place in all of Arizona. This perspective offers a spectacular and almost 360-degree view of the entire valley. The hike is short and steep and rises quickly to an elevation of approximately 744ft and a length of around 1.2 miles (1.9km).
The Spot
This is THE spot on Cathedral Rock where everyone has their photo taken…people come from all over the world for a photo here…couples take wedding and engagement photos here…when it comes to picturesque spots, this one is among the best.

“It is rare to have this spot to yourself, but since people tend to avoid the rain, I’ve discovered that the best time to hike Cathedral is when it rains.”
“This particular day was beautiful and stormy, so we headed up, hoping to have the top to ourselves. But, instead, when we reached the saddle, we were greeted with a break in the clouds and the most beautiful light flooding in from the sun. It was one of those absolutely magical and breathtaking moments that I usually avoid photos in this spot, as I live here and like to leave it for the people who may only see it once in their lifetime.”

Inspiration
“On this evening, I walked out to this spot and threw my hands in the air, taking in all of the beauty and magic in front of and all around me. The Pure Joy feeling that flooded my soul was so overwhelming…I just closed my eyes and took it all in.”

My Experience as a Sedona Artist
I am in pure joy, contentedness, and delight when I’m in front of my easel, creating my next vivid, mystical landscape, whether it be a Sedona red rock original or perhaps of a beach scene. (See below).
Heartfelt Connection
Often, I’m asked why I paint hearts into my art. It’s a way of me putting a universal symbol of “love” into the painting. I find that collectors of my work respond to this symbol of “love” and tell me so. I believe it naturally creates a heart-to-heart connection to which we all aspire.
Number 14
This is the 14th time I’ve painted Sedona’s Cathedral Rock, and this formation is the single most-photographed sight in Arizona. I’ve been drawn to this iconic red rock formation since I moved here in 2003. It is safe to say Cathedral Rock has been around just a little longer, formed 330 million years ago.
